WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
A) A New Framework for Understanding ADHD: A Toolbox for Parents, Teachers & Professionals

Brain-scanning technology will be used to illustrate the physiological differences in the development of brain with AD/HD and explores how the AD/HD brain works differently than the non-AD/HD. Scores of practical interventions for improving learning and behavior in children and young adults with AD/HD will be presented. B) No Such Thing as a Bad Kid

C) Individualized Educational Plan, Learning from an Expert

This workshop will provide the nuts and bolts of navigating through the special education process to help your child get an adequate IEP, IDEA principles and services needed.
D) Managing the Angry Child

F) What is Your Temperament Style/ What is Your Child’s Temperament Style?

Everyone has a specific relating style that compliments and conflicts, and styles often clash. Individuals learn to relate according to their needs. Our unique temperament is that genetic makeup that forms our behavior, and reflects “the real me,” the individual under pressure. Personality is the “face” that the individual shows others. This workshop will focus on helping parents understand their own temperament and that of their children, in order to reach their full potential based on their unique wiring.
G) Strengthening the Marital/Committed Relationship

H) Fostering Social Skills Using Barstow Acres Social Skills Model

IA & IB) Preventing, Disclosing & Intervening with Child Sexual Abuse (This is a Two part workshop)

Sexual abuse is a parent’s biggest fear. This workshop will describe for parents, teachers and clinicians the profile of a sexual predator, how to educate your child and what steps to take if you suspect abuse. Additionally, critical info from a legal perspective and advice from a parent will be shared.
J) Sensory Integration Dysfunction

Highlights key symptoms and the occupational therapists approach to treatment. Learn how to know if your child has sensory integration dysfunction, which commonly co-occurs with developmental disorders, and what to do about it.
K) Brain Gym® 101

Learn simple and enjoyable movements and activities that can be used with students to enhance the experience of whole brain learning. These activities make all types of learning easier but are especially effective with academic skills.
L) Planning for Future of Child or Dependent with Special Needs

This presentation will help parents and guardians make decisions to ensure the safety and financial security of their child with a disability or any dependent child. Participants will learn about government benefits eligibility, guardianship procedures and lots of useful information.
CEU INFORMATION
6 CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS/CREDITS OFFERED PER DAY
This training is cosponsored by CBPS to provide CEUs. CBPS is approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category I continuing education programs. Each full day of training offers six CEUs (8am – 5pm). Certificates are awarded at the end of training. Cost is an additional $10 per day. If you would like to receive a certificate for CEU’s, please submit a check payable to the order of: CBPS.
Recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. NBCC Provider #5763. Approved by the Maryland Board of Psychology to sponsor Category A continuing education programs. Approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California to offer CEUs for MFCC and LCSW.
